This Shangrila is a plateau land with Lhasa as its capital. Lhasa placed at an elevation of 3,597 Mts. is the second highest capital in the world after La Paz, Bolivia (3,660 Mts.). One of the most magnificent Royal Palaces anywhere in the world - the Potala Palace former home of the Dalai Lamas, is built on top of a rock in 1645 and has over 1000 rooms, 10,000 shrines and 200,000 religious statues.

Pickup & drive to Tsetang via Mindroling.As the most important monastery of Nyingmapa (or the Red Sect), the Mindroling Monastery lies east of the Dranang River in Dranang county. Surrounded by mountains and facing east, Mindroling was originally built in the 17th century and rebuilt in 1720.
Morning arrival at Gongkar Airport(3600m);105km ride to Tsetang Town(3551m) and check-in at Longma Hotel or Yulong Hotel or Post Hotel according to reservation.
Afternoon 12km ride to Yumbulagang(built in 2nd century B.C), 1st Tibetan King¡¯s Castle Via Trandruk Monastery(built in 7th century, subject to Geluk now), in which Pearl Thangkha is kept.
Tsetang is the cradle of Tibetan civilization and it is wise for a newcomer to become acclimatized at a comparatively lower altitude.
Day3:Tsedang-Samye-Lhasa
30km ride to Songkha Ferry, 1.5-hour boating across Yarluzangbo and 0.5-hour ride to Samye(built in 8th century,), the premier monastery of Red Sect or Nyingma in Tibtan. Back across the river & 160km ride to Lhasa( 3700m). visit Drepung Monastery and Jinsheng Hotel overnight
Day4:Lhasa City sightseing
Potala, religio-political center of Old Tibet; Jokang, final destination of all sects; and Norbulinkha, Dalai Lama¡¯s summer palace
Day5:End the tour
